Catching Up, Yup it's Cold!

Okay, I love this outfit it doesn't look to flattering on the side view but I got tons of compliments and at my weight watchers meeting about 4 people said wow you've really lost. Yes I have!! but not the point, the outfit is. So here is the breakdown. LLBean puffy vest super warm, infinity scarf and earrings from Lane Bryant, Dress from Ross dress for less, black tights from Target, Black boots from Ross dress for less. The dress sorry I didn't photograph the detail was 9.99 everything but the scarf and earrings was purchased fall 2009.

My son liked this outfit just wore this to the mall Top from Rainbow, turtle neck from Coldwater Creek, jeggins from Lane Bryant, belt from Lane Bryant outlet, black uggs from Nordstroms. It's funny I always wish I could just say whole outfit from Nordstroms but well I can't afford that and besides it would limit my shopping experience. I just love Nordstroms.
I had to post a photo of this most beautiful coat. It was at Macy's my mom and I fell in love with it. It was Ellen Tracy on sale for $315.00 wool coat w/real fox fur trim (I know, I know but it was amazing) my mom offered it to me for Christmas and said but that's it like bday too and I said no I can't I have to be sensible. I hate when I'm sensible but I really needed a hand mixer and some more sweaters. Also it was a size 16 and it zipped and toggled on me, which is huge for me because my normal size for 15yrs has been 22 and now I own 3 items (unfortunately not this coat) in size 16. I am so excited and proud of myself. I will do a post of what I got for Christmas soon, I've been away since my mom is in town and I've been busy cooking, baking and taxiing. Hope you all had a Merry Christmas.

Sunny w/a chance of Snow

22 degrees and 3 days straight of snow and now the sun was shinning the birds were singing and this is what I wore.

Okay excuse the photo quality time to stop using my phone and start using my point and shoot camera and force my son to take them for me.  Here is the break down.

Black Velvet Blazer from Lane Bryant bought on clearance for $34 and tax regular price $89.00. I love it fits perfect and a size 18 which is 2 sizes smaller than I was 3months ago thanks WW.

white T-shirt under purple v-neck sweater both also from Lane Bryant bought end of summer for fall.

blue denim jeggings from Target bought last year also wearing tights under for warmth as it's 22 here and tons of snow.

Dark brown boots from DSW, w/braided detail on the side I love them so much

Multi-stripe fleece scarf from Target bought over 15yrs ago and still holding color and no piling. I have matching mittens that are waterproof, they rock. I loved my outfit today, even my hair cooperated. Best part was when I took off my blazer and at BJ's and my son said OMG mom you are dressed like all the girls at my school. I said hence the blog title. He said no put the blazer back on. Whatevas!

Keeping warm in the Earth tones

Okay today was definitely the coldest day so far. It was 8 degrees when my son left to school this morning. It warmed up to 23, we had company this afternoon so this is what I put together.

The outfit break down
T-shirt- Wal-Mart (yes since I started losing weight as I transition between sizes I go w/as cheap as possible)
Vest- LL Bean comfort fleece was never able to zip it before it's super warm
Jeans- Old Navy Diva straight 1st pair in 20years that doesn't have W next to the number
Socks - boot socks Target from last year
Scarf - Lane Bryant bought like 4years ago I love the colors
Watch - DKNY Nordstroms gifted from my mom she has fantastic taste.
Belt - bought at the State Fair from a leather guy he had to make an extra hole for my but now I use the 5th hole. I love it leather flowers next year I want one with my name on it. I know kind of redneck but I love it besides it's not like I'll wear it with my Yolanda necklace.

& Playing the role of Snow Bunny........

Yup still cold. Here I am it was 18degrees outside and I had to venture out. My thoughts for an outfit were WARM!! I wore my Wal-Mart fleece plush hoodie super warm and it's got a special cuteness but mostly it's warm. I had a black turtle neck from Coldwater Creek underneath my multi-colored infinity scarf from Lane Bryant and denim leggings from Target and black Uggs from TJ Maxx and my black furry hat from Target also. I also had some silk leggings underneath that really do keep you warm. No other accessories because I keep thinking jewelry would just feel too cold on my skin. Funny thing is I am definitely feeling like I'm dressing my age, but keeping warm is my only thought. Its hard for a girl from Orange County CA to not push the style limit but warm takes priority.

Baby it's cold outside..........

It is a winter wonderland here in Central New York, Syracuse to be exact. We've had almost 4ft of snow and it has been snowing non-stop for 4days it's been about 25degrees so yeah it's cold and winter is definitely here.

This was what it looked like at 4pm on my way home from the market. Yes it's cold snowy/icy a little slippery. & this is what I wore to the store.

Let me break it down. White turtle neck from Wal-Mart "Just my size" for $7.00, Jeans from Target (they have gotten really baggy since I've lost 24.5 lbs. they are 2years old. The red vest is Cold Water Creek bought last year on clearance and just started fitting me this past month. I love it and its plushy inside sooooo warm, glad I can finally use it. Then lastly my boots, they are my early Christmas present from my boyfriend he gave them to me early because he said I needed them now. He even picked them out and I love them he got them at JcPenney on sale w/a coupon. Good job honey. Let me know your opinions, I didn't put on a scarf or gloves because they come off as soon as I walk in and I didn't want to deal w/it so no accessories and I forgot to photograph my hat that I wore it's a black furry hat from Target. I have been putting together warm outfits and finally decided to start posting them. Let me know your thoughts. I always welcome comments.

My tree trimming in progress

I'm prepping for Christmas so it's still decorating and not so much about the clothes all though dressing warm for a SoCal girl now in Upstate NY has proved to be a major style challenge but maybe more on that in a later post. Here is my Christmas tree still in progress

Right now I'm only using silver balls w/cream satin 1.5in ribbon and a small bead chain in silver for the decorations.

Here is a close up of the balls I am tying bows and hanging them w/one of the bow loops. I love it so far but I have run out of ribbon and need to buy more I have plenty of balls awaiting bows but Wal-Mart only had 2 spools so I have to try a different Wal-Mart hopefully they will have more so trying to avoid Michaels as I'm trying to keep my costs as low as possible on this.

so it's still a little scarce but okay for now and my son said he finally likes this tree because it's simple elegant and not over crowded. I guess that is my whole decorating theme this year SIMPLE. Who knew all those years of cute warm red and white rustic was ugly to my son oh well live and learn and lets see if he says that when he takes his box of ornaments w/him one day. He is so unsentimental. okay back to the decorations I thought because of blue being my accent color that I was going to use blue ribbon but when I tried it at the store it looked too much like we were making a really original baby shower favor/decoration that the blue had to be scraped. More to follow as I come closer to completing my decorations.

Planning for NYE

Okay I've been over the past 3months putting together an outfit for New Years Eve not quite firm on any plans I might be going to Hershey PA for a Hockey game and then an Party in the Hotel later or maybe I'll stay in Syracuse. Who knows but either way I want to be prepared. I had this vision of velvet leggings sequined tank and a light scarf w/a dusting of sequins to wear w/my ruffled open toe bootie so my vision I thought I would look cute sparkly right on trend and kind of hot. Well what I got was this. SO WRONG!!

Okay why I think so, you may have your own opinions but I think the tank is all wrong it should be swingy not so tight I like the rest the leggings and shoes I think work and I love the scarf but yeah the tank should be gunmetal and looser and of course my hair and makeup need to be done. So partially back to the drawing board. Off to find a different top. Item deets Tank Lane Bryant 14/16, Velvet legging Target along w/the scarf and booties JC Penney.

Style isn't all about clothes!

Okay I was supposed to do an outfit post daily but these last four days I haven't been motivated to post my outfits mainly because I haven't been motivated to put together an actual outfit that wasn't geared toward working out and frankly those have been uninspired too. But alas I have been motivated to work on my home. So here are some photos, it's still a work in progress I have to change the wall art and paint the picture frames and pots for the plants.

On the last picture you see what I see, unfortunately the desk and computer cords are a huge eyesore. Hmmm what to do? I am probably going to get one of those tubes to hide them. Now I just have to find one here in Syracuse. The TV isn't too bad though just need to put those frames somewhere. Okay now to the good stuff, the drapes and pillows and throws from Target all the accessories are from Dollar Tree except the glass bowl is from Wal-Mart bought last year sometime.  Still so much to do picture frames to be painted and new wall art or frame the photos in silver w/white mats. Give opinions please because here at Refusetodressmyage I value input especially in the areas of STYLE!!

Wednesday Wishes: Style

I always think I have a good sense of style, and then I see myself on a daily basis and my stuff and well then I begin to wonder. Do I? Hmmm so I am going to start something new, a daily outfit photo w/commentary and not to include my workout wear unless I was wearing it all day and I happen to think I look cute. I'll try it for 2wks and see what the response is. The picture of my purses is because I loved them at the time of purchase so fantastic but they all went for 1 year w/out use. Style is subjective and at the times I thought these purses represented great style but did they represent great style or just consumerism disguising as style. Am I becoming a reformed fashionista?

Friday5: Five things I love right now!

Yes it's still Friday and it's time for my Friday5. I'm going to keep it simple no clothes cause lets face it w/the McRib  being back they will no longer fit me and I'll have to buy all new ones so my Friday5 is dedicated to the McRib. I love them 5times over!! I love you McRib you cruel cruel sexy processed pork smothered in bbq sauce beast.

Oh yeah and my Boyfriend told me if I don't get over it soon, it's a deal breaker... hmmm BF or McRib wow that's a tough one. The McRib my not snuggle me at night but then my BF isn't covered in bbq sauce....although I'm sure that can be arranged...I wonder if he'd like to be sandwiched in a soft bun...It's back don't make me choose baby, I love you but the McRib is only for a limited time!

Let's talk about boots baby!!

This is the current collection, what I call a collection of restraint. I really had to pare down in my move to Syracuse gone are the high heeled boots which I really miss but really no longer fit into my stay home mom lifestyle, also missing are a light tan or camel colored boot but as most of my accessories no longer support a camel color I decided to get rid of the very old pair I had and since it had a square toe it was pretty dated. So here it is in my opinion the most basic boot styles a girl in the East needs. True I'm missing a bold color boot but that will only happen if I find one that I absolutely have to have with in a reasonable price. Good luck with that one right?
My 3 knee highs, black leather, brown leather, and olive gray suede all low heeled, the black was purchased end of summer 2009 at Ross $35.99, brown was purchased at DSW fall 2009 $99.00 and the olive suede end of summer 2010 at Target $39.95. They all look gorgeous on and all were reasonably priced for leather boots.
The fun weather boots, Rubbers or wellies and UGG style! Wellies in Pink Polka dots from Target for $4.64 major clearance how could I resist!! Right? They are lined with Hunter fleece wellie socks so warm and totally cute I got those at Nordstroms. The Black fake UGG's yes they are fake bought where else but Target I paid the full price of $19.99 2 years ago for them didn't set me back too much right!

& now for the Cowboy, yee haw!! Giddy yup!! Okay this is where the money went the Black Boots are Laredo bought at bootbarn in SoCal paid about $110.00 a few years ago as a Christmas present from my friend Dorie we ended up purchasing our own boots I love them and like all Cowboy boots they only get better with age. The brown wow I love them more then my Stuart W's yes I said it. They are Ariat bought at Corral Western Wear on a whim that was a $225.00 whim but worth it and they are a size smaller then I usually wear. Or what I call a dedication to style because they were the only pair left. Dark brown with light blue stitching how could I resist CAN'T, DIDN'T, never will when it comes to cowboy boots they are my weakness my kryptonite more then handbags it's cowboy boots.
Now for the work horses, yes they are dirty and worn but then as these boots go they should be. Dirty brown biker boots that I get more complements on then any other boot ever (which surprises me) bought at Target for $29.95 they are just above ankle height look very cool with jeans and very comfortable really great lunch time purchase about 3years old and still look exactly the same. Last but not least my waterproof KMart boots bought Feb.2010 at the last minute in preparation of the Outdoor Hockey game I needed something waterproof for the tailgate and for $14.00 in dark brown and pink totally worth 5 times the price. I was outside in the snow for 8hours and my feet never got cold or wet!

These are my boots all size 8 except the Ariat boots are 7.5 all ready for their fall 2010 debut.

What to wear Thursday?

Here is my outfit for Thursday, I'll break it down. Jacket Pure Energy,  exclusively at Target,  Scarf Multi stripe eternity scarf Lane Bryant, T-Shirt Hello Kitty and Cargo Pants Old Navy, socks REI.
Okay I really like this outfit Opinions?

Wednesday WHAT?

Okay huge breakthrough for me, I have never been able to fit into old navy sizes that didn't have a W next to them. SO today I tried on  a pair of Ankle Zip Skinny Cargos since I've been working out and doing Weight Watchers and all my pants are really baggy so I reached for a size 18 not 18W and it fit like for real no straining or pulling so amazing for me I wanted to share.  Here I am!

Friday5 : Five things I love in my closet right now!

#1 Literally #1 my QVC Joan River's New Classic Trench Coat, Yes I said QVC and joan rivers. I am not a closet QVCer I wear it loud and proud and baby when I am sporting this you will know why. If you call yourself a fashionista and are a true fashionista then you have to admit Joan Rivers really knows her shizzle about clothes and style. If you are shaking your head no do your homework whatever you may think about her, her comedy look at the clothes and she is spot on every time, that Girl can dress.

Did I show you the back? The lining is leapord and the buttons tortoise

STUNNING!!! okay here I am in the coat, yes it's pulling a little on the bottom but I ordered a 1X wishful thinking but I'm not returning it and I think it looks pretty good oh and the sunnies are #2
#2 The Sunnies again Joan Rivers Casual Elegance crystal embellished sunglasses again QVC I love these totally hot Joan called the look RICH BITCH and I agree it's a look I truly enjoy cultivating must straighten my hair and get my makeup done if I really want to pull it off.

I have 3 pairs for the fall but these are my favs.

#3 Long sleeve tees from Lane Bryant I love long sleeves and these fit right in for fall under a military jacket or furry vest and sweater vest or to dress down my trench. I can wear them the leggings, jeggings, skinny jeans or wide leg trousers. love them!!

I am still a label snob so yeah I got the DKNY and the SEVEN7 also thinking w/my black uggs. The possibilities are endless.

#4 Baby Doll Top from Rainbow Shops, have I mentioned Rainbow seriously they down have them in SoCal they are a fabulous find if you are looking for club attire cheap and some other things thrown in. I got like 6 t-shirts for 28 bucks okay mind you this place is a little ghetto fab and shaniquia might be on the mobile for all to hear either yelling at her man or her worker but hey it's just part of the atmosphere enjoy the clothes that's why we are here.
okay the photo does not do this top justice it's a black chambray and I already wore it w/black leggings and my brown boots (remember it's okay to mix black and brown now) and a cami underneath. My son actually said wow mom you look really nice today. Okay seriously that hardly ever happens so guess what outfit I will probably wear till it falls off of me. You got it this one. I'll have to post a pic. Seriously this top is cute!

#5  Terry Tie Jacket by DKNY JEANS at Lane Bryant here's the link Terry tie jacket by DKNY Jeans
The LB photo doesn't do it justice
of course I picked the olive green color, remember olive is my new black or at least this season It matches my suede boots perfectly.
Yeah I know not the most flattering stance and taking my hands out of my pockets would make a leaner line but hey this jacket rocks it has perfectly placed pockets looks better on and feels like your softest sweatshirt.

MY FRIDAY5, hope you enjoy.
